NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a meeting of the Southern Nevada Homelessness Continuum of Care Board and the Continuum of Care has been called and will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2016 in the Board Room at the United Way of Southern Nevada, 5830 W. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, Nevada 89103 to consider the following:

 

  1. Call to Order; notice of  compliance with the Nevada Open Meeting Law.

 

  1. Public Comment — No action may be taken upon a matter raised under this item of the agenda until the matter itself has been specifically included on an agenda as an item upon which action may be taken. Comments will be limited to three minutes.

 

  1. Approval of the Agenda for October 13, 2016; for possible action.

 

  1. Approval of the Minutes from the August 22, 2016 meeting; for possible action.

 

  1. Update by co-chairs on recent activities of the Steering Committee; for possible action.

 

  1. Report on the July 14th workshop with the Continuum of Care and the Board on ending homelessness in Southern Nevada facilitated by Bob Morgan, President & CEO of United Way of Southern Nevada.

 

  1. Discussion on the Coordinated Entry planning process for youth, families, and survivors of domestic violence by the Continuum of Care Collaborative Applicant; for possible action.

 

  1. Discussion and approval to apply for the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Project by the Planning Working Group and its Youth Working Group in collaboration with the Continuum of Care Collaborative Applicant to complete necessary tasks and submit by November 30, 2016; for possible action.

 

  1. Discussion on creating two ad-hoc committees by the Steering Committee; for possible action:
    1. To create criteria for the expenditure and administration of the Homeless Trust Fund
    2. To research, study and determine whether the CoC should explore the creation of a Unified Funding Agency

 

  1. Update on the 2016 HUD Consolidated Application Process by the Collaborative Applicant.

 

  1. Presentation for discussion from U.S. Vets on the Impacts of 2016 Veteran’s Stand Down (Innovations, Challenges, and Call for Community Support).

 

  1. Questions and answers regarding reports from the Board working groups (Evaluation, Planning, HMIS, Monitoring, Community Engagement)—Continuum of Care and Board members may ask questions related to Working Group Reports posted with the agenda. Comments made cannot be acted upon, but may be placed on a future agenda for consideration by the Board.

 

  1. Receive an update from each board member regarding relevant activities within their respective organizations relating to homelessness—Board members may speak on any item under this section of the agenda.  Members may comment on matters including, without limitation, future agenda items, upcoming meeting dates, and meeting procedures.  Comments made cannot be acted upon or discussed at this meeting, but may be placed on a future agenda for consideration by the board.

Operation HOME! is a community-wide effort to quickly and permanently house members of the Southern Nevada community who are in need of a home.
 
Our community is investing resources to get and keep tenants housed. Financial assistance, tenant case management and landlord support is available to make this happen.
 

Help find homes for 2,022 unhoused individuals by the end of 2022.

In Southern Nevada, we need more affordable rental units to help people in our community become financially independent and thrive. Our community needs more studio, 1 and 2 bedroom rentals as well as bigger units.
