The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires all Continuums of Care throughout the country to conduct an annual Homeless Census, also known as a Point in Time Count. This count includes people in shelter and transitional housing (Shelter Count) as well as those experiencing unsheltered homelessness (Unsheltered Count). In Southern Nevada, the Homeless Census activities take place annually during the last ten days of January. The gathered data is used to assess homelessness locally and nationally and is published yearly on HUD’s HUD Exchange website for Continuums of Care and the general public to access.
