HIPAA and Data Sharing HUD Training for CoCs

November 18 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Virtual Event Virtual Event

Webinar Description
We recognize that to serve people experiencing homelessness effectively, efficiently, and equitably, we must understand who they are as humans. This includes a comprehensive understanding of the services people experiencing homelessness are currently accessing as
well as the services they need access to. We also recognize that partnerships between health care systems and homeless response systems are critical, and that perceptions about the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) have created barriers to streamlined connections between these two systems of care.

Please join us on Monday, November 18 to hear directly from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Housing and Human Services (HHS) about how data that is covered by HIPAA can be shared with homeless response systems, and in turn, how data from HMIS can be shared back. The ability to share data between these two systems of care is critical to ensuring people experiencing homelessness have access to critical services and housing supports.

Operation HOME! is a community-wide effort to quickly and permanently house members of the Southern Nevada community who are in need of a home.

Our community is investing resources to get and keep tenants housed. Financial assistance, tenant case management and landlord support is available to make this happen.

Help find homes for 2,022 unhoused individuals by the end of 2022.

In Southern Nevada, we need more affordable rental units to help people in our community become financially independent and thrive. Our community needs more studio, 1 and 2 bedroom rentals as well as bigger units.
